As an entrepreneur, you will be faced with many challenges on the journey.  Over the last four years, I have interviewed numerous entrepreneurs about their experiences.  Each shared the rewards of entrepreneurship and the challenges.

According to research, women entrepreneurs face challenges in these areas: capital, credit score history and support from family members and others.  Access to capital is one of the primary barriers that female entrepreneurs face.  Receiving capital is pivotal to obtaining and growing a business (Neeley, L., & Van Auken, H. 2010).

My journey as an entrepreneur started in1999, but I did not understand what it meant to be an entrepreneur at that time.  Yes, I obtained a business license, leased office space and partnered with a business to teach medical billing courses.

While I had the skills as a technician to teach classes, I was lacking when it came to business management, sales and marketing.  As a result, that business failed.

Fast forward to 2017, I took an Entrepreneurial Media class at the University of Memphis while enrolled as a graduate student. In this class, I learned about developing a business model which is essential to starting and sustaining a business.
