Setting goals

Setting goals are essential to achieving the success that you want in your business or personal life. Many times we try to take on too many things at one time and we end up not reaching anything. Goals should be short-term and long-term.
Short term goals can range from one to 12 months. Long term goals are five to 10 years. In 2020, many goals were placed on hold or not achieved due to the restrictions and set-backs. Although there have been challenges, it is not too late to achieve or refine your goals for 2021.

According to (MacLeod, 2012), goals should be S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Healthcare professionals are tasked with developing strategic goals for employees, clinicians and other ancillary staff. Also, if you are planning to get learn a new modality, setting realistic goals are important.
The key to effective goal setting is to write them down, so you can measure progress and achievement.
The acronym, S.M.A.R.T.E.R, will help with developing goals.
Specific - Create objectives that are clear.
Measurable - Develop a tracking and progress system
Achievable - Set realistic goals that can be accomplished
Relevant - Focus on the right target
Timebound - Establish a time frame and structure
Engaging - Create goals with a purpose
Rewarding - Have outcomes that reward success
